The internet is so "Dangerous"

New York duo Alan Wilkis (producer) and Daniel Armbruster (vocals) from "The Internet" are actually from New York City and are making some serious noise on the Indie scene.  They describe the band as ..."a paranoid electronic music project from the Internet. The band was formed out of a mutual distrust for technology and The Cloud, despite a growing dependence on them. Their music explores the ever-increasing relationship between man and machine, and more specifically how the internet has reshaped the human experience."

Get it!!! POLIÇA - Chain My Name

This song is like a magnetic field, it immediately grips you and keeps pulling you deeper and deeper into it's command.  The video is an absolute perfect fit to further showcase this groups diverse and extensive talent. Give this Minneapolis based Synthpop duo a listen and I can assure you will be humming this tune for the rest of the day. She has cool hair, too...

Concert Pitch by Empire of the Sun

Hey there,

I had a few extra minutes today so I wanted to share on of my favorites songs of 2013!  Empire of the Sun hails from Australia and is truly amazing both live and on record!! Their tour costumes are reminiscent of an over-the-top Vegas show paired with an Electronic Indie dance party finished with a guitar smashing ritual.  I personally don't see the need to smash your instruments, but then again asking those types of questions just leads to more questions....

If you have the chance to see Empire of the Sun, GO! Absolutely GO!

Alt-J "An American Wave" Live performance from Kansas City, MO

If you've had the opportunity to see Alt-J in concert you'll know why I've posted this video and will surely be glued to it in its entirety.  If you have not seen Alt-J in concert you need to watch this video in its entirety and will surely be glued to its perfection. Alt-J, hailing from the UK, has travelled far and wide but adamantly finds its closest kinship in America's Heartland.  This performance from the Midland Theater in Kansas City shows us why...

Hopefully you enjoy seeing Alt-J, via this video or in concert, as much as I did Live.

Can't wait for Reflektor! Arcade Fire's new album 'Reflektor' due 10/29/13

I am a big Arcade Fire fan! I cannot wait for the new album Reflektor due out next Tuesday 10/29/2013.  Here is the 2nd song the band has released from the album entitled 'Afterlife'.   I'm loving this high energy track, that differs from their previous body of work in a good way.  This track does an excellent job of embodying Arcade Fire's core while moving to a more energetic and up tempo style.  Have a listen and let me know what you think.  I'd wager you'll agree its a great song and excellent video combo....  PS I have Pre-Ordered this one on Vinyl all the way....

Anyone else have the Post Breaking Bad Blues?

OK so last night was the 1st Sunday since our favorite show, Breaking Bad, came to its amazing conclusion. Yes, there are Homeland, Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Master of Sex, Bate's Motel, Walking Dead and The Americans... these all help to fill the void, but it’s still just not the same. So in the spirit of Jesse Pinkman's insanity, here is a band from ATX called Honey Claws. They're a little outside of my norm but that is what is intriguing about them for me. ChVurches and HAIM release debut albums!!

This is a BIG week for the Ladies of Indie rock! Two of 2013's best records are released within a 7 day span and feature highly talented Female vocalists.

First, from Glasgow, UK is the band ChVrches with their debut release "The Bones Of What You Believe". This album was released on Tuesday September 24, 2013 featuring the singles "Mother We Share" and "Gun". This album will capture your attention all the way through. Most notably are the tracks "Night Sky" and "Under the Tide" and of course the two singles. All of the tracks are excellent, showcasing the band's diversity, unique sound, and uplifting lyrics.

I'm the night-sky
I'm the fire in your eyes
And I want you Now and for all time
I'm the cold heart
I'm the secret that you hide
I'll be listening until you decide

I am thoroughly pleased with this purchase and would give the "THUMBS UP" recommendation to drop the extra coin for Vinyl.


Next, from Los Angeles is HAIM - the Sister Trio of Danielle, Alana and Este Haim - set to release their debut album "Days Are Gone" this coming Tuesday September 30, 2013.

HAIM started as a family band called RockinHaim when the girls played together along with their parents. As they progressed, the girls eventually dropped the 'Rockin' to become known simply as HAIM. They went out and found drummer Dash Hutton and started tearing up the Indie Rock Scene. 

This album is an ABSOLUTE MUST and (again) I would give the "THUMBS UP" recommendation to drop the extra coin for Vinyl.

My wife and I had a blast seeing HAIM Live at SXSW this past March in a small outdoor venue!! If you get the chance to see their Live show it is also a MUST.  If your City is not on their radar just yet you can see them preforming Live by clicking HERE.

Mumford & Sons - Dallas, TX 9/18/2013

Hello,

Mumford & Sons were in Dallas last Wednesday 9/18/2013 at the GEXA Energy Pavilion.  This show was especially sweet as it was a reschedule from the original date of 6/11/2013.  Due to a near miss with a brain aneurism - Brian et al were back in action and delivered the goods!!  I wanted to share some original photos from my experience in the pit.(pure luck in acquiring these gems)  I would thoroughly recommend you traveling far & wide, as needed, to go see Mumford & sons

Any which way you dice it, I hope you enjoy this post as much as we love this show.

The Killers are set to release a new "Best of" album entitled “Direct Hits”, celebrating the 10 year anniversary of their first gig in London.
